When they first met, they were both on their fourth marriages. They had been married to Gaetano Lisi, David Spangler and Gail Harris before finding love. They had a daughter, Cleo Rose Elliott, four months after they married. However, they divorced in 1984.
Sam Elliott and Katharine Ross rekindled their romance after their divorce. They got back together in 1978 for a film called The Legacy. In the film, they played the fictional couple, Maggie and Pete.
