Sharon Mae Lubin was an American teacher and actor who was born on October 30, 1947. She was a wife of Herb Alpert and had a long career in the field of education. After her husband’s death from pancreatic cancer, she continued to work as a teacher.
Her career as a teacher
Herb Alpert and Sharon Mae Lubin were married from 1956 to 1971. The marriage was a brief one due to a lack of compatibility and they eventually split amicably. In the interim, the Lubins were busy raising their two children, Becky and Aria.
Luckily, the Lubins had a number of other interests. They served as a mentor to several teachers and as a soccer coach. They were also active members of the Saratoga Springs community.
They also made their mark on the philanthropic front. One of their projects was to provide financial assistance to students who need help paying for college. Another project, which entailed a monetary gift, was a donation of books and computers to the Schenectady Public Schools. Herb Alpert is a legendary trumpet player. His parents were Jewish immigrants from Ukraine and Romania. He was raised in Boyle Heights, on the east side of Los Angeles. As a child, he took trumpet lessons from a former New York Philharmonic trumpet player.
Aside from his music career, Herb has made a name for himself as a philanthropist. Through his foundation, he has supported a variety of charitable efforts in the US and Sierra Leone. Herb is survived by his wife of forty years, Lani Hall. Their only child is a teeny tiny bundle of joy named Aria. She also happens to be the first woman in the annals of rock and roll to play in the band her husband is a member of. Aside from their love of music, they had an equally sexy love of food. They have traveled the world together and have shared a plethora of memorable moments. Interestingly enough, the most common question about their long-term marriage was, “What do you do when you are married?” Well, that is another story.
