Catherine Janice was born on January 20, 1993, in northern Virginia but was raised in Annandale. She learned how to play violin and piano at the young age of six. She had 14 years of classical training in which she joined jazz bands, orchestras, and theatrical production. At the mere age of 12, she started to write her music and learned production later to produce her music.

On January 19, she released dance you outta my head on TikTok which went viral and gave her much recognition. Janice officially released her song you outta my head without her agency and two weeks after it charted at number 37 on Billboard Hot Dance and number 2 on Billboard’s electronic digital sales.
It reached number 1 on the TikTok billboard top 50 on February 17 and on iTunes, it was number seven worldwide making it to win the Robert Allen award from the ASCAP foundation.

In 2022, Janice found a lump on her neck causing her to be diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare type of cancerous tumor in her scalene muscle. At that time, Janice was working as a geospatial information scientist -taking a master’s degree in coastal geology and also pursuing her singing passion. Janice had surgery to remove the tumor and had chemotherapy. The next year her doctors said she was free of cancer but later cancer had spread to her lungs sickening her again. She started chemotherapy again until when her demise reached.
Death
Janice died of cancer on February 28, 2024, at the age of 31 surrounded by her family and her brother posting on Instagram that she had more art that she wanted to be shared and it would be released in due time. Cat Janice will forever be remembered as an iconic singer who encouraged countless individuals with her resilience, courage, and optimism even through her cancer battle. Rest in peace.
