Kennisandra Jeffries Religion

The wife of a famous American politician Hakeem Jeffries, Kennisandra is one of the most elusive political spouses. She never discusses her personal life in detail and rarely posts her photos on social media, but she is known for her loyalty to her husband.

Her father-in-law Marland Jeffries is a state substance abuse counselor, while her mother-in-law Laneda Jeffries is a social worker. The couple has two children, Jeremiah Jeffries and Joshua Jeffries.

She has an Afro-American ethnicity and is fluent in Spanish language. Her grandmother Peace Abuela passed away in April 2020 at the age of 94 years.

Jeffries is a Baptist who stands against the Confederate flag. He has also supported the First Step Act, which is intended to improve conditions in federal prisons.

A member of the Congressional Black Caucus, he is the Chair of the House Democratic Caucus since January 3, 2019. He was elected unopposed in 2022 to lead the party caucus.

He has been an advocate for criminal justice reform, including the passage of the Equality Act in 2019 and the Excessive Use of Force Prevention Act in 2015. He led the effort to have the Confederate battle flag removed from National Park Service land.

During the congressional debate over the Charleston shootings, Jeffries stood next to the Confederate flag and said he got chills. He was also the co-sponsor of a bill to stop the use of chokeholds.

Jeffries was also the first African-American to be elected as leader of the House Democratic Caucus. He is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus and the Congressional Progressive Caucus, and is a member of the House Judiciary Committee, and the Budget Committee.
